About me

Christy Sears is a Texafornia Mama with an infectious giggle, a wry sense of humor, and a deep passion for jewelry-making. A seasoned ladysmith and jewelry instructor, she began her journey in advertising but soon found herself drawn to metalsmithing, where creativity and craftsmanship took center stage.

Starting with beading and wire-wrapping, Christy quickly realized she craved a deeper connection to the craft. With encouragement from her husband, she took a leap into metal fabrication and jewelry soldering—discovering a world where fire, metal, and artistry collided in the best way possible.

In 2013, she began teaching in a Santa Monica studio, later opening her own garage-based space, which flourished through word-of-mouth. Now in the Atlanta area, her August Axel Jewelry Studio is a haven for beginners, hobbyists, and professionals alike. Known for her engaging, humor-filled teaching style, Christy ensures every student walks away with not just technical skills, but a true understanding of the “when” and “why” behind the techniques.

Her mission? To empower makers with hands-on learning, practical knowledge, and a supportive creative space—saving them from the trial-and-error struggles she faced early on. With over 160 five-star reviews, her impact speaks for itself.

For Christy, success isn’t just about making jewelry—it’s about helping others shine.
